Session Title: | High Performance Printing in a VMware VDI World |
Session Abstract: | VMware's VDI platform offers a very efficient alternative to decentralized IT infrastructures. With mature transmission protocols like RDP, an entire office network can easily and flexibly be accessed with all applications, even over very thin connections to central server farms. Although it is a central element of every office activity, printing often greatly degrades cost-optimized server based IT environments by loss of application performance due to high bandwidth traffic during print data transmissions, heavy load to server resources like memory and CPU caused by print job processing, system instability from printer driver conflicts and incompatibilities, higher level of administration due to the necessity of managing a multitude of printers or very limited flexibility for mobile users and home offices. Professional and future oriented print management is indispensable for meeting these challenges. This session was developed to show solutions against exactly this background. |
