Session Title:

Virtualizing IBM Lotus Domino and Sametime: Planning to Successful Deployment & Case study at Whirlpool

Session Abstract:

Is your company going green? Virtualization has become a mainstream technology, allowing enterprises to consolidate underutilized servers and reducing energy costs while helping to increase flexibility, improve availability and simplify disaster recovery for today's dynamic environments. As organizations embrace virtualization in the data center, many customers are considering virtualizing many Lotus applications like Domino and Sametime. In this presentation we will outline best practices for deploying enterprise critical applications in a virtual environment and share the real life experience from a large IBM and VMware customer, Whirlpool. This will include:
- Validating if your environment is a good candidate for virtualization (Are you ready to go virtual?)
- Proven methods for migrating from physical to virtual (Don't reinvent the wheel)
- Best practices for virtualized setup (You have gone virtual, now what?)
- Mixing virtual and physical environments (Pick the best of both worlds)
- Proactive monitoring of virtual environment (Stop help desk calls)
- Licensing in a virtual world (Last but not least). This is a unique presentation as best practices are intertwined with practical experience from a real world scenario, making the content even more interesting to VMware and IBM Lotus administrators.
