This document describes a reference architecture for deploying Oracle 10 and 11g on NFS / FCP in the mid-tier space with vSphere

The document provides an insight into a new approach to enhancing the scalability of Oracle in the mid-tier space by an innovative use of both NFS and FiberChannel protocols.

Depending on th object being accessed within the Oracle infrastructure either NFS or Fiber Channel protocol will be used - offering a blended solution that takes the best characteristics from both protocols while offering a cost effectrive aproach

The solution uses Oracle ASM and ASMlib and VMware HA technlogies to add further functionality and robustness to the solution
