I don't now what it is but indeed i am also looking forward to the Event! It wil be my 6th VMworld in the US.
1 x LA, 2x LV and now the 3th time in SF. Always meeting great people and spending some quality time outside the venue.
hope to see you all out there!
grtz Peter
Hi Shane,
I switch from excitement to disappointment, as i'm working through the costs involved. Sometimes I think I can make it, other times, i doubt if i can afford it.
I've always wanted to go, but work would never pay, so i decided to pay my own way there last year and take the family for a holiday (most understanding wife ever!). I'm glad i did. But now i really want to go this year too. Plus i could check out things i missed when we went to SF (like Alcatraz - didn't realise we had to book in that far ahead).
So i'm looking to split a room, or perhaps if someone's work is already paying for a room, get 2 singles and i'd be forever grateful.
I might start a new thread, so others can share accommodation..
and with that thought, i'm excited again.

@daunce - Do start a new post for that, but I would wait till registration is open. Don't quote me, but I think it opens in April sometime, or maybe beginning of May. I think you may be surprised that folks would be willing to help. If you're not on the twitter community yet, it's highly advisable that you start and "get plugged in" there, as well. The VMware twitter community is simply amazing!
Regards,
Shane
This will be my 2nd time to go! I went last year for the first time and had a great trip!
Looking forward to San Fran in late summer!
Yes, it's advisable that if you want to go to Alcatraz to book SEVERAL months early. We made the mistake of trying to go the week before, it's a no-go.
My #1 goal this year is to get buried in as much of the lab as I possibly can!
I met some guys at vForum where they both worked at the same company, but work would only send 1 of them to vForum. So the guy that work was paying for, booked a 3 bedroom place, and his co-worker plus another mate stayed there :-) That's where i got the idea.
Roy: Nevermind the labs. they have vCL (VMware Virtual Customer Labs now in beta) for selected customers. Get onto your VMware SE! I wonder if that will have an affect on the hands on labs at VMworld.
Regards.
Hallo Roy!
i think me and my crew where good guides for your first VMworld! See you in San Francisco ;-)
Grtz Peter van den Bosch
Peter!!! I had a great time with you last year and I look forward to seeing you and your group again in San Fran!
Weird, I have 2 accounts. :D
Hi Roy.
You can read more about it from Scott Sauer (VMware) at http://www.virtualinsanity.com/index.php/2012/02/04/vmware-virtual-customer-labs-are-live-hands-on-walk-through/
You'll need a VMware SE / Account manager to request or set it up for you. I'm not sure how far the beta(?) has progressed.
I think next month I will approach the boss about VMworld. And at least aim to get paid for the time i'm there. The wife is putting our old stuff on ebay towards VMworld. Less junk around the house AND i get to go to VMworld (and have best wife!). Win / Win (/ Win!)!
Regards,
Shane
